AWECC calls for MP's support, amidst government change

AWECC Chairperson Sue Portors, has this week written to federal member for Indi, Ms Cathy McGowan AO MP, asking for her continued support for the multicultural communities of the Border and North East as she continues to negotiate with Australia's new Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison, and his government.
In her letter sent on behalf of AWECC members, Ms Portors thanks the MP for her continued support, but notes concerns about the government's growing "inclination to undermine the... civic freedoms of people from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds" and has called on Ms McGowan to continue prioritising the "concerns and needs of our members and ethnic communities."
