A suite of communication resources have been developed by the Victoria Department of Health & Human Services to encourage and educate individuals and the community to be aware of the impact of extreme heat on human health. The information is available in a range of formats with a number of resources translated into community languages. The Victorian Government is offering scholarships to students who are accepted into the 2018 Diploma of Interpreting or Advanced Diploma of Interpreting at RMIT University to study interpreting in a range of community languages. The RMIT diplomas are suitable for bilingual people who are seeking to learn or develop professional interpreting techniques. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, although applications from asylum seekers will also be considered. Building a New Life in Australia: A Longitudinal Study of Humanitarian Migrants is a long term project researching how humanitarian migrants settle into life in Australia. It is the first long-term study of humanitarian migrants to Australia and to date has released data from the first three waves. This report provides a quick and easy reference for policy makers and service providers needing evidence to inform their work.
