Saguna Gevariya
Saguna Gevariya has served as Chair of the Albury Wodonga Ethnic Communities Council (AWECC) since 2022, bringing more than 20 years of crosssector experience and a strong commitment to advancing multicultural inclusion across the Border region.
Alongside her leadership at AWECC, Saguna contributes her expertise through multiple board and volunteer roles, helping strengthen regional capability and ensuring diverse community voices are represented in key decision-making spaces. She is particularly passionate about empowering community members—especially young people—by fostering pathways for leadership, participation, and confidence-building across multicultural communities.
Her contributions have been widely recognised. She was featured in Wodonga Council’s tourism promotional campaign and celebrated in Women of Wodonga in 2025, an initiative honouring local women making a meaningful impact. In the same year, Saguna received Wodonga’s 2025 Citizen of the Year Award for her outstanding leadership and commitment to social cohesion across the region.
